A delicate and elegant late Georgian portrait miniature locket, set with five old cut diamonds in a floral motif. The portrait of the lady is painted on ivory, set in gold, with an opening locket compartment behind.

Miniatures of this type peaked in popularity in the 17th and 18th centuries and were painted as mementos to loved ones, before falling into obscurity with the advent of daguerreotype and photography.
